newport 2010

i just uploaded 5 billion pictures and now i kind of want to throw this computer out the window and never ever return, so the commentary about this trip is going to be brief! but, hooray...newport 2010!

the best part about newport this year was magically ending up in a condo right next door to holls without any sort of planning on our part! the worst part was the weather...10 degrees cooler in the air & water this year according to the lifeguards (wwhhhhyyy?!). regardless we had a fabulous time even if we got hardly any sun due to being too freezing to take of our cover ups (but mostly i am only talking about myself right now because i was the only huge wuss). 

i can't believe that this is the last summer vacation g & i will ever take without babies in tow. everyone told us to soak it all in "because it will never be the same." i know they are right, but at the same time we have had many years to soak in alone time & freedom...this was actually our 5th summer going on this trip together. we have taken our sweet time & enjoyed every second. and now i have to say we are totally excited to have a 6th month old with us next year! i have no doubt she will be laughing, crying, fussing, squirming, eating tons of sand & driving me a little crazy. bring it on, i can't wait!

now i am going to leave my computer and not return for a year or two...

we are having a...

last thursday evening, g & i slipped away to fetal fotos to check on our little babe & perhaps find out what we were having. neither one of us could stop laughing all throughout the ultrasound as we watched our little one kick, squirm and suck it's tiny thumb. we were instantly in love.

when it came time to check between the legs, we closed our eyes & didn't let the ultrasound tech tell us anything about what she was seeing. after the appointment, we had her seal the gender pictures in a separate envelope & then write "boy" or "girl" on a sheet of paper and seal that away as well. we drove straight to a local bakery and asked them to bake us a cake that would tell us what we were having by using either blue or pink frosting on the inside. we handed over the envelope and left, giddy with anticipation.

the next 24 hours were brutal as i paced around my house with that sealed envelope of the gender pictures and thought about opening it 100 million times. i promised g i wouldn't, though, so i didn't (he was shocked) and on friday night we celebrated with a little party with our families to cut the cake and find out what we we're having....

this is what g & i did while we waited for everyone to arrive 

(looked for cracks & signs of blue or pink frosting!)...

we bought blue & pink plates and had everyone cast their vote by choosing a plate. i have always thought this little nugget was a girl & g originally chose girl as well, but switched to boy at the last second 

(to rival me, of course)...

 and pretty much everyone else voted for boy. this is a picture of me yelling out "you are all wrong! it's a girl!"

 and then we cut the cake....

and guess what....

 the frosting was pink!

17 weeks along today & feeling amazing!
i don't think i have ever been this happy.

last night, dave matthews serenaded us with his mad guitar skills and vocals. i have loved dave matthews band for a long, long time (thanks to my brother, ryan) and we loved seeing him in concert. we also loved taking the burbanks with us and making fun of all the drunk idiots we were surrounded by. besides pregnant me being a wee bit paranoid about all the smoke coming from everyone's cigarettes (i spent a lot of time dodging the puffs and rocking out in the back with fresh air, don't worry) we had fun.

not as much fun as this lady, though. apparently this was the greatest day of her life.

if i can just survive the 3 lectures, 2 essays, 2 homework assignments, 2 projects, 4 study groups & 4 finals i have in the next 4 days (and pass everything) i will be free, done with college & boarding a flight to newport come saturday!

fool for fall.

it's been raining on and off all day & i couldn't be more pleased. nothing makes me happier than the sound of rain on my roof or thunder overhead. i am officially sick of summer. i want fall. i miss my fall wardrobe more than i care to admit. i'm ready for hot chocolate and falling leaves and pumpkin cheesecake. i'm ready for crisp weather and the holidays.

i want halloween & thanksgiving & christmas & new years and then...i really want this baby. 

hurry up cold weather!
