I have a confession. I, Jessica Lee, am addicted to sugar. And chocolate. And baking. And, oh my gosh, I have a problem. This problem manifests itself mostly after dinner, when I get these extreme, intense, all-powerful cravings for brownies, apple crisp and 99.9% of the time, warm chocolate chip cookies fresh from the oven. Once the craving is too much, I make up an excuse, scurry my little booty upstairs, pre-heat my oven and all hell breaks loose.
I recognized this problem, about 4 and a half months ago, when G told me he has eaten more dessert during his short marriage to me, then he has in his entire life (I know?! What kind of husband complains about that!?) Anyways, I realized that I might have a problem.
Since then, I haven't baked.
Not once. Not one batch of cookies, not one pan of brownies, no carmelitas...oh wait, I did make carmelitas one night for a ward party, but I didn't even eat one, I swear! (stop judging me) Anyways...my oven has been cold & lonely, my mixer misses me. Colbie & Nora wonder why I am never in the kitchen anymore. It has been a long, tough road for someone who baked on a weekly basis.
And now, today, I came across this recipe and this one. Oh, and this one, too. I swear Pioneer Woman is going to be the death of me. I can't remember why I stopped baking? My mind is getting all jumbled and confused. My will power is fading. Fast.If someone doesn't intervene soon, I may fall back into the cycle of addiction.
This is a cry for help, people!!!

Here's the funny thing... T is baking a yellow cake as I type and there's a whole can of chocolate frosting to go on top. I think we have a problem too!!! :)
ReplyDeleteJess if it makes you feel any better I never bake treats for Todd because I would much rather make lots and eat lots of main dishes, especially anything with potatoes in it. So your husband says he eats too much and mine says that he doesn't get enough. Such sad lives they have.
ReplyDeleteOh my Jess! I think that is awesome that you are so in love with baking and treats! Here's my problem, I love treats but it's hard to find time to bake- I told Ryan once I'm a stay at home mom I will have dinner ready with a dessert to go with it. So, feel free to share any of your recipes with me 'cause I really do think that is such a great hobby.
ReplyDeleteJESSICA! i have been feeling the same way lately... i wonder why i forbid myself from eating sweats when i LOVE them? why do i do that to myself? so on your birthday (or close to it since you are leaving) let's freakin eat all the yumminess in the world. and GUESS WHAT? i used your carmelita recipe to make luke a suprise treat on V-day... and holy freakin cow we ate the whole pan in like two days. they are amazing!! ok and about making them all cutesy.. i don't know how i feel about the blog being all cute. i'm torn between having it be just basic and easy to read and looking "clean" or having it scarpbooky cute. i like them both. so now i am testing out having some cutesy background and ill probably experiment with some more plain ones soon. i love this blogging stuff. all thanks to you for starting the revolution!
ReplyDeleteO i bet your way excited for that recipe then for the chocolate volcanoes!!! I sent it to your email. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteGirl, I say live it up while you can! Seriously life needs more sweets in this salty world! :) And if your dessert looks anything like those pics, G is one lucky guy. I have been craving sugar cookies for days but still haven't been able to! I'm sure they won't turn out half as good either!
ReplyDeleteJESS!!!!!! I found you!!!
ReplyDeletei think I share in your addiction to treats. its a blessing and a curse.
